Creative Matters brings a wonderful selection of art workshops to Pah Homestead during these school holidays. Their workshops are:

  • Perfect for children who love to create

  • Designed to encourage children to think creatively and critically

  • Limited to 12 children per workshop

  • Education based - workshops are written by Tayla - Manager of Children's Programmes - a qualified primary school teacher

  • Taught by practising artists and experienced educators/teachers

  • Fun, creative and inspiring for children

  • A calm, positive environment for your children to thrive

Monday 22 January
Wonderful Whyman

Be inspired by artist Julie Whyman and her terrific textured masterpieces. Explore wax resist techniques using white crayons and dye, play with smudging paint across the page, and experiment with using ink to add the finer details. Bring this all together in a beautiful and moody abstract A3 landscape painting.

Tuesday 23 January
Machiko Jungles

Discover Japanese artist Miroco Machiko and her whimsical wilderness inspired paintings. Experiment with sketching a selection of wild animal species and tropical plants. Explore painting, colour making and pattern techniques as well as drawing techniques with an emphasis on creating perspective. Bring it all together and create an awesome A3 painting of the jungle!

Wednesday 24 January
Open Mouthed Monsters

Create a munching big-mouthed monster in this cool clay workshop. Discover air drying clay techniques such as conditioning, coiling and imprinting, problem solving along the way to ensure that your monster face can freestand. Learn about colour mixing and choose your own colour palette, adding pattern and details to bring your monster to life using acrylic paints.

Suzanne Siegel Seascapes

Make magic in this mixed media collage workshop. Discover artist Suzanne Siegel and her lovely layered landscapes, and be inspired by her as you craft a collage which represents a summery seascape you’ve seen before. Use acrylic paint, dye, crayon, pastel and more to make your own papers, then tear them into sea-like shapes as you compose an A3 masterpiece. 

Tuesday 30 January
Mixed up Mobiles

In this mobile making workshop, be inspired by the ‘exquisite corpse’ game as you build a body using painted tiles of stiff card joined together using bendy shiny wire and threaded beads. Experiment with sketching interesting bodies wearing funky outfits, then create a quirky character you can hang on your bedroom wall!

Awesome Animals

Create a cute community of critters in this animal themed workshop. Discover a range of art making techniques such as cardboard sculpture, collage, acrylic paint, dye and indian ink. Transform recycled card into a few freestanding creatures, create a cute collaged cardboard face and chop a mixed media piece of paper into a composition of animals placed on an A4 background.

Thursday 1 February
Stained Glass Landscapes

Explore and experiment with drawing techniques that help you to simplify a pretty place and sketch a selection of awesome abstract landscapes. Trace your final chosen landscape onto a sheet of acetate and bring it to life using super special ‘paint’ which you’ll be able to see through. Hang your final masterpiece in front of a window to create a beautiful stained glass effect.
